Quinn Goodwillie found inspiration for his songs in his walks through Chicago's Graceland Cemetery— located at the corner of Irving Park and N. Clark — where some of the city's most notable citizens have been laid to rest. In fact, the 11 songs on 'Not Even Dust,' the sophomore album from the Chicago quintet, are all written about Graceland, some in more explicit ways than others. Some songs take the vantage point of a newly interred resident, while others depict the thoughts of passers by. 'Not Even Dust' is deeply rooted in the city of Chicago and inspired by a curious and ceaseless exploration of life's unpredictable trajectory and undeniable endpoint.
'Not Even Dust' was recorded at Type Foundry Studios (Portland, OR) and Electrical Audio (Chicago, IL) by DYLAN MAGIEREK (RED HOUSE PAINTERS, SUN KIL MOON). Magierek, who also heads up the Badman Recording Co. record label (MY MORNING JACKET, INNOCENCE MISSION, HAYDEN), was so impressed with the band during its recording sessions, he decided to co-release the album with Chicago's Two Thumbs Down Records.
